About SandtownLive.com
SandtownLive.com is a community-based website designed to provide visitors with indigenous news and perspectives on issues facing urban America.
Headquarted right in the heart of West Baltimore's Sandtown-Winchester community, visitors will also find this communications medium full of useful information.
Whether one is a student, a community activist, a political official, or the everyday hero - the average working person, this website offers something positive for everyone.
The mission of SandtownLive.com is simple: to spread the Good News about community transformation, and, in doing so, help bridge the gaps caused by urban regionalism. Urban regionalism, or that social phenomena which results from neglect and segmentation, keeps communities with similar challenges from collectively working together to find solutions.
The editorial staff of SandtownLive.com believes that when communities are in the midst of building, unity is essential.
The more neighboring communities are linked together on joint projects, such as the Pennsylvania Avenue Task Force, the closer we all get to a brighter and safer future.
Similarly, as Baltimore is linked to Jamaica, Brazil and other countries, the more we can expand the dialogue on urban regionalism to communities worldwide. SandtownLive.com is committed to this end. After all, we, the human race, have more commonalities than differences. And, the more informed we all are, the better we can work together to quell the challenges facing our bold and challenging world. The more we can learn about the many different cultures in the world, the more we can respect and appreciate each other.
Martin Luther King wrote over thirty years ago, "The richer we become physically, the poorer we become morally and spiritually.
We have learned to fly the air like birds, and swim the seas like fish - but we have not learned the simple art of living together as brothers and sisters."
It is time for us, as human beings, to collectively explore the possibilities of human growth and development. And - it is time to do it together. So, visit SandtownLive.com regularly - being sure to check out each of our seven community-dimensions, including:
